Nigel trained with what was then a “Big 8” firm and after stints with 2 top 20 practices and a 4 partner firm in the home counties he set up Totteridge Associates to provide consultancy and training for accountancy practices more than 25 years ago. He specialises in financial reporting and audit and his work providing file reviews for firms has given him an in-depth insight into ICAEW’s regulatory and disciplinary regime.

After a conversation with his friend and ICAEW Council colleague, Peter Mitchell, he, Peter, Howard Gross, and SPA member Tony Bennewith formed a delegation with other Council members which led to the formation of ICAEW’s Practice Committee, which he now chairs. The committee was formed with the ambition of changing ICAEW’s relationship with its practising members. That work is still not complete, which makes SPA’s role as vital as ever.

Nigel is married to Vicki and has 2 grown-up daughters. Outside work his interests include music (he is an enthusiastic performer), walking, scuba diving and anything to do with food.
