Briefing paper on streamlining SME audits

HMRC

I hope you have been enjoying the weather and / or a great holiday.

A little while ago many of you responded to our urgent request for information about audit of a less complex entity. This was requested by Martyn E. Jones, Chair of the Advisory Board to the Department of Economics and Finance, Brunel University London and Past President and Former Chair of the Board of the ICAEW.

See Martyn E. Jones Brunel University London for some further biographical details.

Both Martyn and I thank you for your reply which was really helpful. As a small company auditor I noted and agreed with all the comments received.

Martyn has sent me the latest version of the draft briefing paper that reflects his personal views. He would be grateful for any further thoughts in the next three or four days. The paper indicates  some of the issues need to be resolved by the policy makers speedily. Please click on the title below to review it.:

BRIEFING PAPER ON THE URGENT NEED TO HELP FIX THE ECONOMY BY STREAMLINING SME AUDITS, AND HOW TO ACHIEVE IT.

I welcome your views as an auditor, or past auditor or member, which I will send on to Martyn on Friday 23rd August. Please send your reply to howard.gross@spa.org.uk

Please note Martyn has thanked you in his briefing paper

Kind regards,

Howard Gross BFP FCA FCCA CTA Director
