HMRC will be making planned upgrades to some of their IT, moving more of their internal systems to cloud-hosting from 10:00pm on Friday 3rd November until 07:00am on Monday 6th November. This will help to make them more resilient, reliable, and secure.
The work involved means that some of their webchat and digital services will be either fully unavailable or have limited functionality during migration. HMRC have planned for this migration to take place over a weekend to minimise disruption to taxpayers and you.
Depending on the query, their webchat advisors for the following lines may only be able to provide generic advice for individuals:
- Needs Extra Support
- Online Services Helpline
- Self Assessment
The impacted digital services are detailed below. If you or a taxpayer tries to access these during the weekend migration, they will be provided with suitable messaging advising them the service is currently unavailable.
This includes:
- Marriage Allowance
- Employee Expenses
- Tax Credits Service
Less than 100 days to the Self Assessment deadline
Self Assessment taxpayers now have less than 100 days to submit their tax return online ahead of the deadline on 31 January 2024.
Completing a tax return sooner means that taxpayers can find out what they owe and can work out how to pay between now and the deadline.
Reminders on the deadline, along with other useful information can be found at 100 days to go to Self Assessment deadline at GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
