HMRC says The Making Tax Digital (MTD) for the Income Tax programme is at full speed, and their external readiness team are actively exploring all avenues to ensure agents and taxpayers are fully prepared.
There is limited time remaining before the changes take effect. You can take advantage of the current BETA testing period.
As part of HMRC enhanced outreach efforts, they will soon launch a new form on GOV.UK where agents can register your interest in a MTD readiness discussion with HMRC.
By completing this short form, you will help HMRC identify those considering joining the testing phase, enabling HMRC to offer targeted engagement and educational support.
Once the form is submitted, the HMRC team will triage and contact you directly to:
- Understand their current position in the MTD journey and support your next steps.
- Promote awareness of MTD for Income Tax.
- Provide education on the testing phase.
- Guide you through the sign-up process in line with MTD legal requirements.
- To reach as many agents as possible, HMRC would greatly appreciate your support.
We have been asked to share the registration link with you (as soon as HMRC share it with us!!!!) to help ensure you are informed and prepared. HMRC will be doing this on a phased approach over the coming months – if HMRC send it out all at the same time they say they will be overwhelmed by responses, and unable to respond in a reasonable time.
