From December 1st 2025 for savers protection the Bank of England raises current £85,000 cap to £120,000 under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). This applies to a collapse of their bank, building society, or credit union.
“The Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) has today confirmed the deposit protection limit, which applies to the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, will protect up to £120,000 of a depositor’s money should their bank, building society or credit union fail. “
This rise is part of the PRA’s continued updates to regulatory thresholds, keeping the rulebook current and compliant with today’s regulatory environment..
